HOTTER TEMPERATURES BRING INCREASED ELECTRIC DEMAND IN TEXAS
High summer temperatures are pushing the Texas power grid to all-time records and forecasters are predicting more hot weather for the next two weeks. During these times of high demand consider taking the following steps during the peak demand hours of 3-7pm to help ensure the power grid is able to continue serving power needs:
· Turn off all lights, appliances, and electronic equipment in unoccupied areas · When at home, close window blinds and drapes that get direct sun · Avoid using your dishwasher, laundry equipment, and other household appliances · Use microwaves for cooking instead of an electric range or oven · Set refrigerators and freezers at more efficient temperatures and limit how often you open the appliance doors · Set thermostats no lower than 78 degrees and use fans to circulate cool air
